Mega round at Infermedica: PLN 120 million for further development

Wrocław medtech company – Infermedica, which has been part of our portfolio since 2016 – recently closed a round worth PLN 120 million (USD 30 million) for the development of a system supporting initial medical care and diagnostics. The Polish solution is already available in 30 countries, and this is just the beginning.

Infermedica, which provides software enabling initial medical diagnostics based on artificial intelligence, continues to grow in strength. The Wrocław-based company recently raised PLN 120 million in a series B round, led by the One Peak fund. Their existing investors also participated in the round, including: the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), heal.capital/, Karma Ventures, and Inovo Venture Partners.

So far, the Polish startup, also supported by capital from our own Fund, has received about PLN 180 million from investors – including PLN 40 million in a series A round in 2020.

The funds currently obtained will be allocated to the development of technology and the co-financing of solutions facilitating the operation of medical workers. The startup also wants to create a platform to improve medical visits – from facilitating communication between doctors and patients, to automating the creation of notes. Infermedica’s plans also include further expansion into new markets and continued development in countries where the company’s solutions are already in place.

At the service of patients and doctors 

Infermedica was established in 2012 at the initiative of Piotr Orzechowski, and it supports patients, doctors and medical organizations with an artificial intelligence-based platform. The platform helps users make the right decision about their next steps of treatment, improves the flow of patients and helps reduce the costs of medical services. Infermedica cooperates with over 90 companies from the healthcare industry in over 30 countries, including Microsoft, Allianz, Sana Kliniken and PZU. So far, the tool has been used in over 10 million medical interviews.

Numbers and figures confirm the potential of a startup in our portfolio. Today, Infermedica works with nearly 100 partners from 30 countries, supporting 19 different languages. Medtech services are used by, among others: Allianz, Microsoft, Sana Kliniken, Optum, Gothaer, Médis and PZU Zdrowie.
